Babusar Top, also known as Babusar Pass, is one of the highest and most scenic points in northern Pakistan, situated at an elevation of approximately 13,700 feet (4,170 meters). It lies at the end of the Kaghan Valley in the Mansehra district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and connects it to Chilas in Gilgit-Baltistan. Historically, Babusar Top held great strategic and cultural importance. Before the construction of the Karakoram Highway (KKH), this mountain pass was a major travel and trade route used by caravans, nomads, and locals to move between regions. The name “Babusar” is believed to originate from “Babur Sar” — referring to the Mughal Emperor Babur, who is said to have used this route during his campaigns in the subcontinent. Though the Karakoram Highway has become the modern route to the north, Babusar Top still draws thousands of travelers each year for its unmatched natural beauty.
